blower motor differences

Just got my replacement blower motor in and it looks exactly like the BM out of a E28. According to the seller, it apparently came out of a 1991 318i 4-Door. Do you guys know if there were 2 different blower motors used for the E30? As far as I know, only one type was used, and it was the one with the 5" Diameter squirrel cages.

Pretty sure there were 2 types used, i think cars that had a plastic airbox and cars that had the aluminum one used 2 different types of blowers.
