Car Revving as a Constant 2k

So yesterday I installed a new blower resistor, but I didn't try starting the car till this morning cause I was debating doing a valve adjustment. When I went to drive today, the car started revving to about 2k in neutral and just holding there. The idle speed was up in 2nd so basically the car it constantly on the gas. I'm wondering if it's the the FPR cause I did have to move it to install the resistor. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also, first thing I did when it started was pull over, pop the hood and push on the throttle. When I started to touch it the car started rolling. How is that possible in neutral? I pressed on the gas in neutral and that didn't move the car at all.

Check your tps, may be out of adjustment or altogether bad. You should be able to hear a click when you move it from idle to WOT.

I'd be more suspicious of the throttle cable.

It's the throttle, If I pull it back a little it goes to normal idle, but once I press on the gas it settles back at the high idle. I've never adjusted this, any good diys?

There are two steps to adjusting the throttle cable. First the adjuster on the cable end is set for a slight bit of free play with the throttle closed. Then the stop under the pedal is adjusted so that the throttle plate is 90deg to the throttle body when the pedal is all the way down.

The cable has slack so making it any looser won't do anything. I'm think the springs are a little weak and not forcing the throttle to be completely down. There's also a little bit of gunk but a decent amount of wd40 had no effect.

If the cable has slack, the throttle plate/shaft is binding. Spray PBlaster or Kroil on the shaft and work the throttle several times to free it up. If that doesn't work, you may have to pull the throttle body, remove the pre-heater and TPS, and clean the throttle body overnight in in carb cleaner.

try those mentioned steps above, but you should also check the plastic clips on the throttle bracket where the cable seats. one of the locking tabs may have broken allowing the cable to move and stick in one direction. Ive found this to be the culprit on a few occasions.

Figured this out a couple minutes after my last post. The small curved housing that guides the cable popped out and was adding a small amount of tension. Should have figured it out quicker, but I'll always take a cheap, free fix. Thanks for the help!
