    No rear lights???

I dont know why - I have no idea... but my tail lights dont work. My brake lights work, but my tail lights do not.

I have tried: switching out the trunk tail light covers
    checking the bulbs
    checking the contacts

    What else can I check.

Power for the tail lights is via fuse 22 & 23. Each side goes through separate switches in the light switch, then through the Check Relay box and to the lights. The front parking lights are powered by the lines between the light switch and Check Relay. If they work, but the taillights don't the cause will lie in the wiring to the rear of the car, the check relay, or the wiring from the check relay to the bulb. It should be pretty easy to figure out where the problem is using the diagrams from http://wedophones.com/BMWManualsLead.htm
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Hmmm - I think my front parking lights dont work. So does that mean my check relay is bad?

No that would likely mean that the light switch or fuses are bad.
