Has anyone ever used one of these engine lift/supports?

I was pondering building something similiar so I can pull the subframe and repair the pan gasket. The fenders on the E30 dont look all that strong to me. I was a bit worried something like this would bend them.

Haven't you ever seen Russian Nesting Dolls? They work like that.

You're resting on the upper rail, which is a reinforced channel. It's fine.

Used one on my e30 before with no issues, it's nice when your in a garage with low overhead clearance that would make using a hoist a pain

I assume your talking about resting it in that valley where the screws holding the fender are on? (just like in the picture).

I have access to metal bracing at work and Im going to just make one, it can easily hold the weight of the engine.
