I guess the problem is in the FFR or it would be the pump engine.Nevertheless, you can't notify that kind of problem if you did not check it specifically the car fluid. However, try to have this option you may going to contact some expert so that you can really understand what is the problem with your car.

Aren't the fuel filters made to only flow one direction? Maybe you installed your new one backwards? Not sure if there is some kind of one-way valve built into them.
Seems like there is something between the pump and the engine bay that is blocking the line. Maybe there is a pinched hardline somewhere?

After my car sat for the winter i had the same exact problem. We ended up running a wire directly from fuse #11 to the + on the fuel pump. Then running a new ground from the pump to the frame. Started right up. I have an 87 which has a duel pump set up, it was the external high pressure pump that wasn't getting the power. I converted to a single in tank pump which took all these problems away. Is your's a single or dual pump set up. Have you tested the fuel pump leads with a multimeter? After that i would check for continuity between fuel pump and fuel pump relay. Giving your c101 plug a jiggle would't hurt either.
