so i was driving and as i start to go from a stop light i suddenly hear a loud ping noise come from the engine and suddenly the engine noise gets louder i recognized the sound and pulled over and looked and sure enough a spark plug blew out of the head. i tried looking for the spark plug in the engine bay it wasnt there and i looked in the street and i couldnt find it. should i just try and stick another spark plun in? and since i was really close to home i drove it home 3 min drive. its a '87 325is with the M20 motor

if you need to use a torque wrench to install spark plugs you shouldnt even be touching a motor. END OF STORY.my build here ---> http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/show...ht=lemans+blue

Spark plugs like the oil drain plug (18ft-lb) are steel parts into aluminum. It is all to easy to damage the threads in the aluminum with too much torque. The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
