Removing/replacing trunk lock

How do I remove the trunk lock to replace it?

I found this walkthrough but it is a bit vague.

Do i just use a screwdriver and push the rivets out or? Is there anything I need to watch out for?

This was the only other lock removal thing I could find and I'd really rather not do this one :p

I removed my trunk latch to clean and lube it and I followed the walkthrough that you originally posted. This is what I did from what I remember...
1) remove the inner taillight coverings
2) push the center of the plastic rivets on the top plastic and then pry them out with a flat head screwdriver. With this top piece off, the carpet will come out much easier and you don't risk breaking the plastic tabs on the piece.
3) Pull back on the central locking metal arm until it pops out (be careful not to bend it or break the plastic housing)
4) Remove the 10mm bolts
5) The latch should wiggle around and you will be able to remove it
I did not remove the lock cylinder, but once you have the latch out you should be able to see the clip that is stated in the other walkthrough.

Also, If you plan to take the lock out make sure you clean the latch before you put it back in. After cleaning mine it works fantastic and it doesn't get stuck closed. I used brake cleaner and scrubbed it with a wire brush and then lubed it up with lithium grease!

Edit: the center pins of the rivets may pop through, and it may be best to wiggle the carpet out before you push the rivets so you can catch the pieces.

Sorry, just kidding. The plastic rivets can be popped out. Although, you might have to destroy a few to get them out. These things are really old and they do not behave well. My previously response was based on the assumption that you have tried to pop them already without any success.
