    Throttle Hesitation when cold?

My 1988 BMW 325 is suffering a problem.

Whenever I first start the car and start driving it around I need to give it more gas to get it going, if I start letting the clutch out and giving it the normal amount of gas to get going it trys to stall on me, almost as if I was dropping the clutch and wasn't giving it gas.

I'm pretty sure its throttle/fuel/air related, as the clutch is fine as far as I can tell.

The first things I'd do would be to smoke test the engine and fix the leaks it reveals and check the rail fuel pressure.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

There are no vacuum leaks as far as I know, It was maintained very very well before me, and usually there would always be issues, not just when its cold.

Fuel rail pressure I also highly doubt, but I could check.

Vacuum leak or issue with your coolant temp sensor signal. Given that my car does the exact same thing and has a known vacuum leak, I know which one I'd suspect. Smoke test is the only way to be 100% sure.

There should be a sticky at the top of the technical thread list... written by Jlevie... just saying "Smoke Test". Vacuum leak is probably one of the most common issues, if not the most common that comes up in the technical threads. I wonder if Jim could tell us how many times a day he suggests smoke tests? :)
