    Fogs on with Hi-Beams??

I've heard a lot of people sodering wires between the relay that controls the lights.

I used to have a 1989 325is. With it, you couldn't have the fog lamps on with the high beams.

I now have an Euro 1986 325ic. With it, I can have the fogs on along with the high beams. Why can I? My car doesn't have any electrical work to enable it that was done by a previous owner, to my knowledge that is. Is it something only the Euro's can do?
    Current BMW's:
    2004 330Ci
    1986 European 325i cabrio
    1986 735i

    Previous BMW's:
    1989 325is RIP
    1989 325iX RIP
    2001 740iL RIP

when I spliced the power supplies from the high beam relay to the low beam relay the only side effect is that my fogs stay on when I turn on my highs.
      Im now E30less.

Newer cars can just do the 2min relay mod. I did it, the only downside is that my fogs are now completely independent of my ignition (if the switch is on, they stay on).

Do a search on Bf.c, I know the mod for older cars is much more involved.

There are 4 different methods depending on the year of your car.

For sure this works for 1987 cars http://www.mmsport.s5.com/foglights.html

            For some 1989 & 1990 325iS' http://e30.bmwdiy.info/indy-fogs/index.html

            For some 1988 cars :

Disconnect the +ve wire or -ve if you prefer from your battery post

Disassemble the top part of your fuse box from the bottom part by taking out 3 screws

Try the "port" that Relay prong #87a plugs into with your ammeter to make sure that its the source for the relay by turning your headlights on and off with the fog light switch in the "on" position.

Un-plug the relay "port" from the plastic housing by pushing it out and tap/splice it to the main +ve feed for the fuse block (red wire)

Make sure to do this patiently and insulate properly for it can cost you

Solder a wire from prong 85 to 30 on your foglight relay k8. DO NOT BEND ANY TABS.
...make sure the wire will not interfere with the relay fitting properly ;)

I don't know of any published source for the 4th method : Its for the 89,90 and 91 e30s that need more than a simply modded relay.

I typed this in a hury, If any of the above result in you frying your electrical system...sorry!!

..btw , euro cars are setup like that from the factory. The purpose is to use them for foggy conditions since the low beams are pretty useless for such situations. I just like the look of the car with the fogs independently on 8)
