    Day one tasks?

Alright, so I'm getting my car tomorrow (1991 325i 4 door) and I'm just wondering what should be #1 on my list for inspection. I'm getting a good deal on the car and I know right off the bat it needs new Ignition wires/leads and I've ordered a new BOSCH set. Other than that is there anything I should give a thorough looking over?

The P/O put a lot of money into the suspension and that's about it aside from swapping a newer M20 into it (100k less miles than the chassis).

Off the top of my head thoroughly inspect for rust. Also would be a good idea to see if the odometer works or not.

Other than that probably just the usual

If you can't prove the timing belt is less than five years old and has less than 50k on it, replace it. In a like manner the life of the water pump is 10yr/100k, as is that of the radiator, expansion tank, cap, fan clutch, thermostat, and all hoses.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Smoke test to find any vacuum leaks should be # 1 on your list.

Ok I will try to check the condition of the belt, for sure do a smoke test, and check all the fluids. Just to be safe I think I'll get the timing belt changed out.

Condition of the belt doesnt mean that it is less then 5 years old. Some belts you can tell some you cant for example one of my previous cars was a 01 with 97k due for tb, but looked at the belt looked new! but it was never replaced. if i was you, i would just replace it. Its like $20 at autozone. and then also vaccum leaks....
