For the main harness running through the car from front to back and left to right, is there a significant difference between the M3 and the 325? I understand the motor harness would be different (S14 versus M20) but for the main harness of the car, is there a difference? The reason I ask is I may be able to scoop up a chassis only E30 M3 and was wondering if I could a 325 as a parts car for the similar components between the two (obviously NOT the body panels or even windshield etc).

Circa 87 would be your best bet. It has c101 and early model tail lights. Or.... Make it a racecar and have a total of 2 wires going to the trunk for brake lights and fuel pump :) -
