    Sheared Bolt - front subframe

As the title states. I sheared the sucker about flush with the body.

Anyone used those bolt extractor kits? Do they work well? I've got it soaking in PB Blaster right now. Any other suggestions?

    Fuck.

    Thanks.

weld over it, unless you need to get the subframe out, if it's broke off and your removing the subframe, take the subframe out, weld nut on end of stud, twist out....

I had a friend do the same thing on his E30. He overtorqued with an impact. A good quality extractor bit and a powerfull drill get the job done. Make sure you soak the bolt in penetrating oil if it is stuck in.

      Keep it slideways!!

The subframe is out. But need to put a new one in.

I'm thinking about trying one of those bolt-extractor drill bits after I let it soak in PB for a couple of days. I might even find some long thimble shaped thing, fill it with PB, push it up around the bolt and nutplate, and tape it up there and leave it soaking.

There's a clearance hole in the body from the top, where you can see some type of nutplate that holds the bolt. I think that if worse comes to worse, I can drill through it and use a washer and nut on the far side...it'd be a bitch though.

Well I ordered one of these kits that center the pilot hole, I'll try to drill it out and retap...all a first for me. We'll see how it goes...
