Best way to clean engine bay before installing engine

I am getting ready to drop then engine back into my 318I. What is the best way to clean the engine bay? Will pressure washing it hurt anything?
    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks!

The only places you don't want water to get into is the wiring harness going into the firewall, fuse box, and the different firewall holes that carry various things. I pressure washed my engine bay when the engine (and wiring) was out and as long as no direct blasts get into the holes and box you are good to go. Clean up some of the puddled water when you are done just to be extra anal. These cars were made to go through the rain, they are pretty solid!

Purple power, and pressure washer.. i only covered fuel lines, coolant hoses, power steering, AC, and the whole for wiring harness.... and sprayed the shit out of everything.. let it soak for 15 mines and then spotless...

Would you recommend using it on the engine as well?

I used it on the engine, wheels, body, it cleaned everything. The engine was not as clean... Because I didn't have access to a power washer at the time so I also brushed it. But if you wanna clean your body.. I would suggest mixing it with water like 50:50 so it's not so much chemicals.
