    Major Gas Leak... HELP

So I had to leave my car, 1987 325is, in another part of the city because it was dripping a significant amount of gas. I was able to pinpoint the leak to below the master cylinder reservoir. My gut says it's the fuel filter and the hoses running into it, but it seems that my fuel filter should be by the tank on the underside of the car. Any info and/or DYIs would be greatly appreciated since I have to decide whether to get a tow to a shop or do it my self on the street. Thanks.

I know the eta cars have the fuel filter right below the master cylinder in the engine bay. You have an early i. Im not sure what date they stopped putting them there and moved it to just forward of the rear driverside wheel.

I was wondering that as well, but it seems like all motronic 1.1 setups should have them in the back.

Maybe it's just he hoses from the fuel rails to the fuel injection?

have a look at what im pretty sure is an eta engine bay. if the filter is not where it is in the picture then its back by the rear wheel. I know there are three hoses that run there, supply, return and the breather to the charcoal canister.

The car is about 3 miels away so I'm going to trust bentley and realoem and bet that the fuel filter is by the rear wheel.

That being said I know there are hoses and it's probably a leak at some connection point (fuel rails to hose, to possibly a connector between 2 hoses).

Is there a good DIY on how o replace these hoses?

How far up to the metal fuel rails go up into the bay?

prob a hose clamp or the line has corroded/cracked with age. You have to get under there and see. Either way i don't see it being a complicated or expensive fix. They are metal till right before the engine bay, then rubber in the bay right up to the rail.
