setting up a 12v clutch switch

Ok so Im having a bit of trouble finding a switch that can work as a clutch switch for my flat foot shifting setup.

basically 2 step and flat foot shifting activate when I press a 12v momentary switch, I have it setup so that it is near my shifter so I just hold it down for 2 step which is simple and works just fine but for flat foot shifting it needs to be clutch activated.

I cant seem to come up with a way that would work once the clutch is pressed in that would be a lasting solution.

    1. Easy way is to set up a switch near the clutch stop that gets physically pressed by the pedal, but I feel that would not last long as it would get stomped quite a bit.

Maybe I'm wrong here about how the OEM brake light switch works but that seems to work the opposite of what I need as it is depressed at all times until the pedal is pushed, being pressed in at all times would mean it would be activated at all times which I dont want.

how would I go about setting up a 12v momentary switch that activates once the pedal is pushed besides physically pressing the button with the pedal?

Would an OEM brake switch work in a situation like this?
my current switch is similar to this.

AFAICT, when the brake switch is physically depressed the circuit is actually open, it closes when it loses contact with the pedal arm. So it sounds like it'd work for your application.

Yeah thats what I was hoping to hear because it makes sense as that is how power would get to the brake lights, but I wasnt sure if it actually closes the circuit once the pedal is pushed in or not because Its hard for me to imagine how a circuit is completed once the button is not pressed.

What about the stock cruise control switch on the clutch?

I dont have that switch oddly. Not sure what year my pedal box is from and I'm not sure the car was equipped with CC since is doesn't even have the slot for the switch.

my pedal box is like this but with the square brake light switch.

is the cc switch bracket a bolt on thing? or is it welded?

I presume it's spring loaded internally. You could also look into using the clutch switch for the cruise control system, if it operates in the same way. It looks the same so I wouldn't be surprised. You'd already have the mounting bracket and everything, then.

Edit: Beaten to it. But from the diagram it looks like it's bolt on :p

so I actually had that^^ setup in the garage but it seems the switch is broken and doesn't work at all, its just always engaging 2 step no matter what the position of the switch is at. I tried it with the brake light switch and it worked but It was not a good bracket so I removed it.

wondering if the cc switch was defective or works differently

Pull the switch and check for continuity could just be broken.
