Steering Completely Locked // Need a fix

In the process of putting the steering wheel back on after doing some work on the cluster my steering column has become completely locked.

I can't turn the key to the on position at all with or without the wheel installed.

When the wheel is mounted there is no play left or right on the steering column.

Need a quick fix to this as this is my daily driver.

    Cheers,

    D

Are the wheels at full left or right lock? Sometimes if they are it gets a bit tricky to unlock the column.

Ok did you do anything else with the column besides removing the wheel?

Also you need to unlock the column then install the wheel.

Nope, reinstalled the wheel and was checking to see if it was torqued down by applying some steering input. Then it locked. The key wasn't in the on position, this was the issue I believe.

Sorry I edited my post. I'm fairly certain you need the column unlocked to remove the wheel. I'd assume it's the same for install though I haven't done mine in awhile.

As shown here you need the ignition on to remove or install the wheel. My guess is you damaged that pin by installing the wheel with the ignition off.

I wish I assumed the same too. First time dealing with steering wheels when not driving here.

So, now that we've realized what caused this how do we/I solve this?

Check my previous post. Take a look at the pin, my guess is its bent/stuck and causing the wheel to be locked.

                    FIXED FIXED FIXED.

The steering was locked when I put the wheel on, thus the pin was up and the wheel was applied at an off angle wedging it in place, angled more toward the driver. The wheel never covered the pin and with a good tug I was able to remove the wheel and turn the cylinder no problem.

Stupid mistake on my part. Thanks for the on the fly replies.

                    Cheers,
