What kind of engine mounts come standard on the e30? And if they are solid rubber, what is the advantage of putting fluid-filled ones instead? I'm looking to isolate the engine vibes from the passenger compartment if possible, cuz the car breakdances at idle practically, which to say the least is not really comfy.

Am I crazy, or didn't the M42 cars have fluid filled mounts?
Maybe it's the V8 powered cars.

M42 and V8's are definately fluid filled.
The V8's have a BAD habit of popping them when driven like a man.Tenured Automotive Service Professional - Avid BMW Enthusiast

Get the IE ones. No extra NVH into the cabin. Good peace of mind.
As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.Comment

6cyl mounts are solid rubber lumps.
M42 cars and S14 cars have the fluid mounts.
Put fresh stock mounts in it. If it really makes that much NVH at idle you may have other problems.Adam Fogg- '88 M3
