    86 es with m20b25

Quick question, I have a 86 es with a m20b25 in it. I was wondering how i would go about to get the the tachometer to work, some say use a cluster out of an 87 i or is. Just would like to hear what ya'll can tell me. Thank you

All you need is the proper coding plug for the cluster. I can't remember if any 6-cylinder coding plug will work, or if you need an e/i specific plug.

You'll want the tachometer from an M20B25 car, just for it's greater range. The coding plug you have now will work.

Early cars, up 8/87 route the tachometer signal from the engine harness via c104 o the cluster. All later cars route the signal via C101. To get the tachometer to work when using a late harness on an early car you can modify the engine harness or re-route the the tachometer & econometer wires to C101.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
