Blower Motor?

I have tried two different blower motors but both only work at full speed and when they are turned on it sounds like a Jet Engine.

Anybody know what the problem is?

everything is hooked up correctly even the wires so whats going on, bad fuse, bad switch.

HA! I just did mine today. It's the blower motor resistor, a $20 little board. Go here: http://e30.bmwdiy.info/blower-resistor/

Took me about 20 mins or so, and I was really distracted and working below freezing.

Trust me, that's the only thing it could be. As soon as mine did the 4-only thing on Saturday I knew it for sure, I remember reading about it in the past. When I brought it up to my dad he said he's already had it replaced twice since the car was new. :shock:

I got the part in my hand and i hope its good i have been tossing the heater core around and left it outside but it looks to be in good shape so ill give it a shot. :P

Do what the article says and spray it with some WD40 first, just to be sure.

How about for a completely non-functioning blower motor?
It slowly died to the point where it would barely blow any air on 4, now it doesn't blow at all.
I just ordered a used blower motor from the Euro Depot. I have to drive 300 miles on Friday. I definitely hope that's all I need. Or I'll be driving at 70mph with the windows open.

Good to hear. I was about that happy yesterday too, and mine was only out for a day and a half.

I thought about doing that, but I figure the worst part about the whole thing is actually getting in the blower area. I'd hate to spray the thing and have to dive back in any time soon. I got it for $30 at a BMW place 'round here. :D
