I've been searching and never really came around to the reason why my rpms dont work but there's a twist to my car, it's been swaped from e to i. I read online that there was a seprate cable on 86-87 while the rpm gauge wiring was ran in back blue conector cable of the cluster in 88.i know others have swaped on here, how did you get it to work? Note: I JUST replaced the si board 7/15/2013 (today of the posting date). All help is appreciated, thanks.

Early cars route the tachometer and econometer signals to the cluster via a three pin connector (C104) pigtailed off the engine harness near the DME connector. Late cars (from 9/87) route those signals through C101. If you put a late harness into an early car you have to either graft C104 onto the engine harness or re-route the tachometer and econometer wiring to C101.The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
