    M20 cluster question

Do any of you guys know if the cluster from an 87 325i will fit a 1990 325i? Hope someone can help

Yes it will work but you'll have to swap the gas gauge. Early and late are different.

I believe it will work as long as its going from a 6cyl to a 6cyl. If its going from 4cyl to 6cyl you will need to change coding plug. Also, if its an "e" and yours is an "i" or "is" then you will need to change tach but if not then you're ok.

Out of curiosity, why are you looking to swap the entire cluster?

I use to have an m42 engine, the original tach only reved up to 5 thousand rpm. I swapped in a m20 from a 90 325i into my baby :) I have an understanding that the m20 revs higher.

The M42 engine also uses a 7k tach but a different coding chip since it's a 4 cylinder.

You can swap the cluster as I mentioned above as long as you swap in your original fuel gauge.
