Bunch of 325IX issues I need help with

    So I have a 1988 325ix with many problems still =/

    - I replaced the odo gears since they broke and when I installed the cluster the tachometer and speedometer didn't work. The tachometer was just a bad fuse but the speedometer and odometer still aren't working, Any suggestions?

    - When I start the car it can't seem to hold an idle very well it drops to like 400rpm then back up to 1200rpm and so on. but after I drive it for a little bit the idle is constant at around 900-1000rpm. Is it a bad icv? can it be cleaned or something?

    - My battery also won't hold a charge. I can jump the car and it'll stay running fine. I tested it with a volt meter while the car was on and it was around 12.4-12.7 volts which is low, So I thought bad alternator, replaced my alternator and still same thing... Is my battery just bad?

Any help with these issues would be great, and I really appreciate the input! Thanks in advance!

Does the battery warning light in the cluster illuminate when ignition is turned on? If it doesn't the alternator isn't getting exciter power, which is typically a bad bulb.

The ICV can be removed and cleaned, but you also need to verify that the TPS is good and correctly adjusted and have a shop run a smoke test to check for intake leaks.

If all of the fuses are good, the speedometer may not be getting a speed signal from the sensor in the differential. If the car has the 13 button OBC none of the speed related functions will work if that is the problem.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Okay the battery light isn't on, so I think you might be right about the exciter, so how would I go about checking/fixing that issue? I just want my car to work the way it should

The first thing to do would be to replace the bulb if it is burned out.
