Car died: No signal to coil?

Took a fast left hander, and in mid turn car died on me.

Plenty of gas, fuses good. Checked the ground side of the coil, and nothing.

Used a test light to see if my computer was turning the coil on/off, but no light. I think its either the computer, or the CPS. Lucky i have one of each layin around.

Any other ideas? I have power to the coil... but theres no signal to tel lthe coil to tell it to "power up".

    TIA.

Sounds like you're on the right track. Check output of crank sensor to dme, and the coil - wire from dme to coil.

Did you check for spark out of the coil?

yea, going to check to make sure the sensor is putting out its signal, unfortunatly i dont have an o-scope, so its hard to see the pattern.

Checked for spark out of coil, and nothing. but there is power to the coil, it just doesnt get grounded through the computer..

tried 3 other coils. resistance checked fine on all of them, .5-.7ohms on primary, and 5500-7000ohms on the secondary.

              changed crank sensor. no luck.

thinking the computer fried, as it controls the ground to the coil...

Well if it is the computer then it sounds like you've got a serious short in there somewhere, to have killed it just taking a hard turn...........I'd find that pretty soon as well.

Ok, swapped computer. no go. I went and checked some more shit, and now the bracket that holds the CPS is broken. the cps was just chillin there danglin.

Fuck. It looks like the bracket is built into the timing cover, so that needs to come off. It needs a tbelt/waterpump and front seal anyways(been 70k) so i figure ill do that all at once. But the bracket wasnt broken when i swapped the CPS. i think the gap was too close with the new sensor, and when i went to crank it over it snapped. I didnt hear any funny noises or anything...

Your CPS bracket is built into your timing belt cover? Mine isnt. Should just be two bolts holding it in.

yea i looked again, and it is bolted. but inorder to get one of the bolts out it looks like the harmonic balancer and the exciter ring and all that shit up front has to come out. fucking car!
