    help with eta wiring harness

i need to know if can replace some connecters and 1 sensor
the connectors i need to replace
    1. the small wire on the starter the harness im putting on is a small eyelet and the harness that was on my car had a plastic spade connector.
    2. the emissions o2 relay the plastic broke so it wont stay in the holder for it, i want to replace it with the one that came off my harness.
    3. the one im worried about is the magnetic? sensor that is hardwired to the harness that looks like it reads the smooth crank wheel at the front of the engine. it is cracked and i can see the spun copper in it. can i cut it off from the other harness and solder it on or will it eff up the resistance and im boned?

also another option is since the drivers side of my harness is fine the only reason i am replacing the harness is the wires running to my tstat housing were all messed up and shorting out. so would it be too terrible to cut off the shitty ones and solder the ones from the other harness with shrink wrap and taking good care to seal the wiring up?

my car has not started since i was trying to diagnose something. i pushed on the tstat housing wires behind the FPR and the car died and has not started since. so i figured bad wiring since it looked crusty and exposed and the harness i got at the yard seems more supple and less old crusty but like i said has those couple issues otherwise it seems better.

The small starter wire is simple to change over no worries there.

the early o2 sensors always seem to break the plastic retaining clip and dangle. I usually just wire tie it out of the way as long a it makes a good connection.

Could you get a pic of what sensor your taking about on the front, it sounds like your talking about the front mounted crank position sensor that late models use, your car being an ETA should have the crank sensors in the transmission bell housing not the front.

I dont have much to add to this thread other than stating the fact that my production date 07/87 iS car has the crank sensor on the front of the motor

Yea the sensor is on the left side near the alternator and looks like the sensors that read the flywheel but its held by metal clips pointing at the smooth wheel behind all the other pulleys.
