    Is this possible? - leaky...wheel?

Well this may belong in the wheels and tire forum, but I kinda need a fast answer so I hope its ok that I post it here.

I bought a set of kopi wheels and falken tires over the summer. I didn't notice until it just recently started getting really cold that my right rear tire was losing air, so I bought it into my bmw shop and had them check the tire and the valvestem.

Well according to him, the tire is puncture free, and the valve stem is fine. He said he found a leak in the wheel itself. Said it must have been a porus mold because air is coming through the wheel itself?

My question is, is this even possible? I've never heard of this before...ever. Any input?

    I haven't heard of this.

But I've heard of CRACKS in wheels, that air can leak through...

He said structually the wheel is sound, no severe bends or cracks...

I have heard of this, but not on full size car wheels, but it is entirely possible in the same way. My first hand experience with this is on kart wheels, when either the weld is porous that held the two halves together or actually the cast metal itself leaking air through air pockets and bubbles trapped inside. It is possible, just pretty rare, but it seems you have that problem.

When I bought my alloys, I had the same problem. First they thought it was a leaky valve, but further inspection revealed that the WHEEL was leaking air near one of the spokes. Apparently a manufacturer defect. Got the wheel replaced for free of course.

Umm, no. I was just referring to the rare but existent case where a wheel could be leaking air due to manufacturing process. Not a Kopi wheel.

Yes-I've heard of it even with BBS wheels-it's a very rare exception though.
We guarrantee our wheels against any manufacturing defect and will replace a wheel at no charge to the owner if a defect exists.
