E36 m44 oil filter cap stuck

As title says: My 15 oil change has turned into a fiasco..I've been trying to wrestle off this oil filter cap (the big plastic spin off one) and to no avail its not coming out. I already tried the filter cap adapter, and channel locks. can someone give me some ideas, tips, advice. I'm so tired.. :(

Hammer and a flat head screwdriver, try to hammer it counterclockwise. Have a new cap handy in case it breaks off. In all honesty a quality oil filter cap adaptor should work just fine though.

      strap wrench?

...but I like the hammer idea. Just don't hit your valve cover.

        Get one of these:

        or one of these:

They're known as 'claw oil filter wrenches' to some people. The second one will definitely get your filter housing off, but it'll mess it up pretty good at the same time. But hey, if you can't get it off... right? I know the first one I posted can be found at harbor freight, not too sure about the second one.
