There is a hole in the bottom of the pump. When it goes bad, water will leak out and fly all over your engine bay. It will circulate some water. It will leak some water. By continuing your driving while it is getting hot and loosing water you are going to ruin the entire engine.

Holy mother of god.... for how much it costs to have a head decked, that is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooo ghetto. Especially for aluminum heads - way too easy to take too much material off. Please, for the amount of time it takes to get your head on and off it's worth paying the $50-100 to have the peace of mind that you won't have to do it all over again.

Soooo. As expected, i did not listen to wise advice of people here and well at least i am sure i have a faulty gasket (hopefully just that one and well yea the block needs mashined).
But i would like to hear an opinion.
I am about to deliver my car to a mechanic. But i thought i will ask this one last thing before i make my mind.
My engine run 170,000 km. And gaskets will be replaced with new banana Sebring manifold and waterpump and shits. Question is:
Is it worth doing previously menshioned repairs or just getting a complite engine instead of the same kind?
Price wise it all comes to the same end. So is it reasonable just to do the reparations and have a sweet baby ride or to go with unknown engine and doing gasket replacement on that one and then popping it into my actuall car.
Thanks alot.

Don't mean to be a dick - I just want to clarify since, well, no offense but your english isn't the best.
The problem ended up being the head gasket, so you'd like to know if you should fix your current engine and potentially have problems down the road - or - if you should buy a mystery engine and install it.
Me personally? Stick with the engine you have (unless you want to upgrade to a bigger m20 / different engine), just make sure your mechanic checks the head for warping and cracks. Also, have the timing belt done if it hasn't been taken care of already.
Also, I don't know how people classify 'high mileage' in Denmark, but here in 'Murica 100k miles (170k km) isn't that bad. My engine had about '240,000km' on it when I swapped the engine.

P.S. i honestly never before had remarks about my English language :) Not that i got offended or something, just because i even think my English is way better than my mother tongue language which is lithuanian... so i find it bit awkward that you found it difficult to understand. Perhaps i missed couple of comas, but you just refraced everything the same way, which is good, cause you got my message in the first place. Anyway. Cheers

Ok update:
So, i am doing top head refurbishment. All valves will be cleaned, ports will be cleaned, new gaskets all around and most probably tho not yet settled i will be putting a new Shrick 284 or 288 degree cam shaft.
As well stronger springs to go with it.
And Sebring banana manifold which will make the flow equal.
The interesting thing is my head top will be rebuild with help of one of the best (if not the best) of Scandinavian car modification specialist, who prepares cars for Danish teams in Le Mans endurance and Rally races :) 72year old Block will be accompanying my friend (who is still learning even tho has 30 years experience in car modification) during the process :)
Extremely excited. Rough calculations say engine will get extra 50 hp at least. And higher torque response should be reached .
Ou completely forgot. We will take off 1kg off the flywheel as well at the same time. So Car will be revived quite a bit. :)
I probably should get a thread started :DLast edited by Norbert; 11-18-2013, 05:13 PM.
