    Coolant Leak / No Heat

    Hey guys,

The other day I was driving a noticed white smoke coming out from under my hood. I opened it up and noticed it was the coolant steaming out. It was also leaking under the engine bay, more towards the drivers side. This was also the FIRST day I used my heat. I had the heater on full blast for around 15-20 minutes total. I have heard it can be the heater core but people have said that it would usually be evident by a damp carpet by the pedals. I checked today and it was bone dry. Any other possibilities? Any suggestions on how I begin troubleshooting?

Grab a pocket mirror, make sure the coolant is topped off, fire her up and look for leaks... unless you know someone with a pressure tester.

Pretty solid method right there. Places to check would be the outlet in the head. I've had that crack before and that was a mess. Then check the heater core hoses and work your way forward.
      Swanny!
      SUCKERS.

So I bought coolant to refill the tank and see where this leak is coming from. Filled it up, ran the engine until the temp gauge needle was centered, ran the heater on full blast while the engine was on for about 20 mins, and finally test drive it on the higheway. NO leak and NO over heating.... Also, my ac blows hot air now...

Very confused... but happy... I guess....

          Any thoughts?

Don't be fooled - something's still up, the right conditions just weren't met. Find someone with a pressure tester.
