Temp gauge at 3/4 but IR reading is 180...

So I'm almost done building my vert and I have a peculiar problem.

The car warms up to the 3/4 mark and the gauge stays pegged there... I have heat, IR scanner shows 180 degrees at the housing.

Where should I start? Potential problem with the wiring? I checked the ground nut on the cluster already but it was nice and tight...

Trying to bring this car home but want to iron everything out... would appreciate your help!

How are your si board batteries? If they are bad them can effect fuel and temp gauges

Could be as simple as a bad sender. Bentley might have a way of testing it.

Good points guys. Anyway to know if the SI boards are bad?

The car only has 104k on the clock but the motor has about 136k. I gotta check that I've bled it properly as well. I drove the car around today and noticed that the heater core hoses don't get hot... Maybe I have them switched around?

Right now I have it hooked as follows:

Hose from rear of the block - lower pipe on heater core

Hose from the front - upper pipe

Is that correct? I haven't been able to find a decent pic of that area.

Nitro, I'll check the Bentley tomorrow for testing info.

          Thanks guys.

Not sure what your issue is but the configuration of your heater core hoses are correct.

Yes, heater hose from head goes lower, from thermostat goes to upper.

Try a new sender, or check the bently for how to test the current sender. Im sure a quick resistance test when the car is hot will tell you the answer. Do you have heat when you rev the engine or are driving? Might just need to be bled.
