    Idle Problem

    Hey guys,

I'm pretty new to r3v, but my brother alkasquawlik used to post a lot around here. I inherited his e30 and there seems to be an idle problem. Whenever the car is at a stop, the car stalls out. When I'm moving there doesnt seem to be any issue. My guess is that the idle control valve may need to be adjusted or something. I'm a novice when it comes to this kind of shit, so any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks

take the idle control valve out and give it a good cleaning with some brake cleanerthere might be an adjustment screw on it that you could mess with to see if it improves idle. Disconnect and reconnect the battery as well, clean all grounds, etc... After all this the idle may be rough for a few minutes, its the ICV relearning idle.

ok so i cleaned the ICV. That didn't seem to do anything. now that you mention it, I did disconnect my battery while installing my sub. That is when the problems started happening. Do you think it could just be a bad connection on the battery?

It's a possibility, tighten the connection and try just driving it for 30 min, icv might just need to relearn and reset itself

I just cleaned the terminals of the battery. It still has the problem.

Nice. I just drove it around for about 10-15 minutes and the idle seems to be working. I think the ICV did just need to reset itself. Hopefully the more I drive it the better it gets. Thanks Danny915
