    ICV spring loaded?

My mechanic says the ICV has a spring to close the valve but i read somewhere that it isnt.

some do, some are 100% electrically operated (this is just general knowledge, not specific to the e30). Why, is he telling you you need a new one? Is your idle real high/erratic or something?

When i used turn on my car it would die automatically unless I rev it several times. But I took the icv off and shook it until the valve was slightly open and put it back on. Now it runs better but not the best.

Remove your ICV and clean it really well with carb medic. The valve should move freely. It's electronic. With your ICV reconnected and the engine running you should hear a slight hum from the IVC

Thanks. My icv doesn't look dirty before that valve but maybe inside. I'll try to clean and let you know.
