Hello,
I have a late model E30 with an S50 swap and I'm trying to resolve a fuel smell issue. When I first finished up the swap I just left the fuel tank vent line open and the throttle body side open. This resulted in a small vacuum leak from the opening into the Throttle Body and a strong fuel smell with the vent line wide open to the atmosphere. I only drove the car twice like this and the fuel smell inside the car was very strong. So this weekend I set out to fix it and I hooked up the E36 purge valve by a hose from the fuel tank vent hose to the inlet of the purge valve and a hose from the outlet of the purge valve directly to the throttle body. I drove the car and the smell is completely gone except when I come to a stop, idle, and when I pull away there is a strong fuel smell. When I am driving there is no smell, idling there seems to be no smell, but when I come to a stop, as I pull away there is a smell.
