Burning smell and light smoke coming from vents

So I was driving my e30 on the interstate for her first time and after I got home and shut her off I began to smell, what to me seemed like burnt wire, and a very light white smoke was coming out of the vents... My heater wasn't on nor my A/C. The heater blower is busted and needing replaced. Could it be the heater core? I popped the hood and couldn't see a single thing coming from the engine bay.

    Anyone have experience with this?

The heater core would leak not smoke. If you're smelling burnt wires and seeing smoke, I'd dig in and find out whats what. Focus on wiring up around steering column, behind center console radio area.

hmm. tricky.. I would pull the blower motor anyway and see if it still happens.. Was your fan set to OFF? And which vents are you talking about, specifically?

And like meengreen said - get behind the dash through the cluster and radio area and have a look see.. Check your ECU wiring too in the glove box.

Specifically the passenger vent and the two in the middle. The fan was wet to off, the heater blower doesn't work at all. The car was turned to heat and just the engine air was coming through the vents to give some warmth.

The smell and smoke wasn't noticed until the car was stopped and turned off...
