    door lock problem

    door lock problems...

front door on my 318is doesn’t lock when I use the trunk or passenger side to lock. The passenger side and trunk lock fine. I can lock the driver side door with the key, with some force and turning it very slowly to almost coax it into locking position...

Now when I'm inside the car I can lift and push the lock knob (it does lock all 3 locks and unlocks when I do this) fairly easily which makes me believe the red/white actuator is fine and it’s the actual mechanism. Thoughts?

p.s. I recently rebuilt the door lock cylinder, so I ruled out that as well

When you rebuilt the lock cylinder did you BLAST everything inside the door with lube? It's a lot easier from the hole for the lock cylinder. If not, get to blasting.

You can use PB blaster or WD-40 or something, but the good stuff for locks/hinges is the cans of white lithium grease. That shit will stick on and stay for a good while.
