    Power steering leak

    So I was driving earlier and noticed my power steering was acting up then later found this leaking, how can I fix this ?

    You'll need to rebuild the rack yourself or buy a new or rebuilt one.

      Convenient time for a rack upgrade :)

      -or-

      If you're broke/cheap you can just cut/remove the PS belt and rock that shit unassisted... that's the setup I've got now (sans pump). It takes a little while to get used to, but it really only sucks in parking lots, ect.

        haha cool so since im currently broke so ima cut the ps belt and ride it until i get an e36 rack. so i just cut the ps belt and thats it ?

          Could do that, or get a PS delete plate.

          Removing the whole PS system is better if you want to rock no PS.

          But if it's just a short term deal, that'll do.


          I deleted my PS a week ago, I'm loving it.

              Yeah you wanna just remove (or cut) the belt - the idea being that if you let the pump spin without fluid, it's eventually gonna lock up... and then you're gonna have a bad time.

                power steering on these cars are the only downside. Mine leaks too but from the reservoir. Replace the lines as well. Early Z3 steering racks fit these very well. Good luck!
