    Electrical Gremlins

Happy Bird Day…. 1991 318is car- Went to go for a run and while driving there I noticed I lost my gauges, tach, fuel meter temp. Blower motor had no power, radio had no power. A couple of engine lights came on, engine check, abs. Car was runny OK though. Went to get get gas and car batt was dead after that. Had my brother come over and give me a jump. Car fired right up-he followed me home. Noticed coming home gauges were back working, blower motor was good- radio too. Then they all died again, no gauges, no blower motor power. Car died at idle at red light. Brother was behind me so he gave me a push, popped clutch, car running and made it home. Gauges were back, blower had power and car started after I got home. I'm suspecting bad connection in engine bay on the main harness or possible faulty battery since I know this battery is getting ready to shit the bed. Car sits a lot since I don't drive it every day. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

That could be a bad primary power connection, but it sounds more like a dying alternator. Specifically worn out brushes, which can be replaced if the alternator bearings are still good.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

same thing is happening with my car i replaced the battery, drove it home from autozone and lights were still flickering on the dash, replacing the alternator tomorrow to see if thats the issue which it most likely is, you should change yours also
