    Window Regulator Problems?

How do i know if my problem is a the regulator or the motor.
the motor is running but i just get a clicking sound when i try to roll it down, like a gear is stripped.

    2nd,
any good write ups on replacing one?

I would ck and clean the regulator motor connector to the body connection. 9 out of 10 will correct. Clean the window switches while troubleshooting also. Contact cleaner at Lowes/Homedepot cheaper than auto parts store 90% of the time.

Well, if you can hear the motor running all your connections are probably good. My bet is that your regulator is bad (I'm guessing this is an early car, cuz the noise sounds like a broken cable).

Check the DIY section, I'm pretty sure there's a writeup there.

A clicking sound from the motor is either stripped gears or a jammed regulator/window.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

it's a 88 and it would click when i didn't stop pushing the button when it was rolled up, then one day it wouldn't come down and now only clicks when i hit the button.
is the gear on the motor replaceable?

on a side note, after an oil change i discovered that one of my motor mounts is completely destroyed and my engine is resting on my power steering rack? i think that is what it's called.
