Getting a 5 speed need some info on tools

I have searched a few times and cannot find the thread that told you what tools you need to remove the 260/5. I am going to pull one from an 85 325e and convert my car to manual.
I need to know what tools are recommended to remove the tranny from the car. The head and starter are gone so I am sure I can remove the bellhousing bolts without the long extensions.

    TIA!

Only tools remotely special would be an external torx socket set.

Torx socket set, a 2ft 3/8 extension and a 3/8 impact swivel joint FTW.

This thing is a life saver.

Just so you know, I have found the "Lisle" brand commonly found in auto parts stores to be junk. I have broken several.

WalMart carries "Stanley" brand, which I can heartily recommend, for cheap.

Craftsman is hit and miss. Real brand name shit is far better, but my Snap-On kit was expensive. NAPA often has a decent tool, but Lisle is crap.

Thanks for the tips on tool brands. My dad actually has all of the tools I need (snap-on and matco) Only problem is they are in storage 800 miles north of here and we won't be going to get all of them untill late spring/ early summer :(

              Amen brother!
the 2 foot extention is needed as well. A long handled wrench or breaker bar may be needed depending on if the torx blots are rusted. Some PB blaster will help as well. You will most likely want to grab the pedles and clutch master and slave, and the brake res.

I'm good on everything except for the tranny, flywheel, clutch kit, and drive shaft. My car was a manual when I had the m10 in it but I had to do an emergency engine swap from my 325e parts car which had an automatic and I couldn't afford a tranny to stay manual at the time.
