Whenever it's cold in the morning and usually only the first time in the morning, my starter motor stays engaged and powered even if I turn the key all the way off and pull it out. Last about 5 seconds. The thing I notice about this is that the brake lining light also stays lit while this is happening, leading me to believe the switch in the steering column is sticking and not the starter solenoid. Any thoughts?

Im having the exact same problem. Goes away when the car is warmed up. I thought it was the starter sticking, but its gotta be in the column because I can pull my key out and it keeps turning over.Whenever it's cold in the morning and usually only the first time in the morning, my starter motor stays engaged and powered even if I turn the key all the way off and pull it out. Being able to pull the key out and all doesn't really narrow it down, cause if the solenoid is sticking that's all the starter needs to turn over. Does you brake lining light stay on? I think that's the most definite indication it's got to be the switch in the steering column. I'm just not 100% on that.Comment
