    Parking Brake Cables

I took a quick look at my parking brakes this evening to figure out why they haven't been working on my car and found two issues in the system. I went to adjust the cable length and found the cable to the passenger side snapped off a few inches from the parking brake lever. That should be an easy fix, looks like a single cable is all I'll need. On the driver's side I noticed that there is about 1/2" of play with the entire cable into and out of the backing plate. Is there a clip or jam nut that should be keeping my cable from moving? The passenger side dose not have this play.

Part 1 has play into and out of Part 3.

It's probably stretched, id replace both cables, shoes, and hardware while your in there.

If I remember correctly there is not a fastener that holds the cable in place. It's the spring tension from having the end of the cable hooked up to #5. They do get rusty and dirty and are hard to remove sometimes.
