cruise control = brake light check

ok so this problem kinda comes and goes, ill have cruise on and a few minutes later the check light comes on for my brake lights, AFAIK the lights still work when the light comes on, anyone else ever have this problem, should i just get rid of that damn light or is there a better way?
    thanks alot

I believe they are on the same circuit. If the fuse blows, the lights go out.

If there is a high current draw from the cruise actuator, perhaps it throws off the bulb failure recognition.

They could be related, or not. I tried to track down a brack light warning light for a few years. I replaced all of the bulbs with the good silver based ones, replaced the brake switch, and still had it pop up. Finally, I did a center brake light retrofit from the later sedans/coupes, and the problem was fixed. Granted, you have an IC, but just thought I'd throw that out there from past experience.

Same problem, and its driving me nuts.

I'm SLOWLY fixing up my car, and cruise is my next project. Currently not working. The "brake" light is on in my check console as well.

Opened up the actuator for the cruise, and it works - the little motor in there engages at least.

All of my brake lights work fine. Maybe I should try to get one from a later sedan or coupe. Anything special I need to know, or is it a straightforward swap?
