Hey folks,
I started outlining a charging problem in another thread, but it's now something different.
'89 325i presented with a whining alternator (Bosch rebuild, 7 months old, 4000 miles) and odd dash light behavior. The battery, brake lining, and parking brake lights would illuminate very dimly at idle, slowly intensifying as the RPM built. A multimeter showed almost 15V at the batter at 2,000 RPM, so I replaced the voltage regulator.
The voltage regulator solved the voltage problem, but the alternator is still screaming. The dash light behavior is different as well. The lights will be pretty intense at first, but as a steady RPM is held (regardless of where it is) the lights will dim out.
Any suggestions?
