    Coolant

When I start my car on a very cold morning my coolant light comes on above my mirror. The CHECK light also flashes on my dash. What causes this?

The first thing to do is to check the level in the expansion tank. It should be checked when the engine is cold and should be at the cold mark. If that is correct the level sensor is probably bad or making a poor connection.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Thank you. I will check this when I get home. Last time I looked the expansion tank was full but the car was warm. It only does it on a really cold day at cold start. If I were to shut off the car and restart it the lights would be off.

Cleaning the coolant sensor prongs inside the tank with a fine piece of sand paper will take care of the problem.

I'll pull it out and take a look. Thanks!
