    1985 318i fuel pumps question

    Hello guys,

I have been doing some research about the fuel pumps and learned that the e30 318i with m10 motor has two fuel pumps, one inline outside the fuel tank and the other inside the fuel tank. I went to look for the inline one and looks to me as someone has removed it completely. Car doesn't really have any power at the moment, except for few hp to slug to work and back.

    My questions are as follows:

    1) is it theoretically possible that the fuel delivery setup has been modified or would the car not run with only one in tank pump?

    2) what is the original location of the inline fuel pump in the e30?

    3) would the 255lph pump with new lines and filter be sufficient to continue running one pump or should I add the second pump back?

Thanks fellas and sorry if these questions seem novice to some.

The stock configuration would have had a low pressure transfer pump in the tank and a high pressure pump under the car just in front of the left rear wheel. The low pressure pump alone would not allow the engine to run. But the system could have been converted to a sing in-tank high pressure pump.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Well, that is what you get when you simultaneously post the same question to both forums.
