    FU deadlock!! Defeated!

So my passenger door was deadlocked shut. Only way I could easily access the actuator to break the deadlock was by removing the inner weather strip. Theres a hole you see in the second pic that you can hook to manually pull up on the actuator to break the deadlock. First I tried fashioning a hook from a clothes hanger. The actuator is pretty damn strong. The hook kept breaking loose. Then i figure a better way was to loop the clothes hanger in and out to give me more leverage. I figure it took about 50ish lbs to break that actuator loose. I'm keeping it manual for now!!!

Good find! Always wondered if there was a way to defeat the deadlock.

its only accessible with the window down. Otherwise if your double locked out it'll probably be impossible to get in

I found out that E30's had double locks when I unknowingly locked mine, and then the lock controller failed.

One can remove the door panels fairly easily, even when the doors are closed. With the door panels removed, you can uncsrew the lock actuators in the doors and open the doors and reset the double locks.

I disabled the double locks by removing the microswitch that contacts the driver's lock cylinder. I just moved it elsewhere inside the door, so it's still there and can be put back in place by some foolish future owner.

With a new lock controller installed, my power locks work fine, and I'l never have to think about the double locks again.
