E30 IX Running Rich + Crappy Fuel Consumption

Long time listener, first time caller. A little new to working on cars, pretty good with 2 stroke scooters,

    I need some help please.

    1989 325ix
    217000 KMS /135000 Miles
    5 Speed

The problem: The car runs rich @ idle + gets overall crappy fuel Economy. 6kms / L or 14mpg.

    notes:
    • Idle is wobbly when the engine is cold 500-1000 Rpm, When warm it is stable at about 600 Rpm.
    • The Fuel Economy Gauge maxes out at Idle and in 1st gear but operates properly when driving through the other gears. *It Seems to function properly but this has not been tested
    • Recent fixes include: New O2 Sensor, new coolant temp sensor, new fuel pump, new gas tank, New plugs, Cap and rotor, fuel and air filters are new. No gas in the oil or tailpipe. new coolant.
    • It has been cold here but I park inside during the day and the wobbly idle exists at different air temps. (-20c to +15c)
    • I also have no heat, something is up with the core I suspect but have not had time to sort that and I have no idea if the 2 things could be related.**Opinions welcome here!

Question is what am I missing on this list of things to validate:

    Check /replace AFM
    Clean ICV
    Check Thermostat
Check for vacuum leak from Throttle body to intake Manifold

Advice / opinions welcomed and encouraged.

    Cheers, Brett.

Check/clean/dielectric grease the round connector under the intake manifold, the infamous injector harness connector. Then maybe have your injectors rebuilt or replaced if the problem persists.

The heater control valve clogs up sometimes, would be worth checking since it's pretty easy to do.
