    changing foglight bulbs

my foglight bulbs died in my 91 318, so i went out and checked to make sure it was definately the bulb and not the wires, fuses, or switch. and i determined it was the bubl, i went out and bought H3 replacement bulbs, i think thats what the website said to use i was getting them from, but now i dont know how to replace them, how do you take the old bulbs out of the housing?

different topic, which oil is best for my car in terms of synthetic, i read on here that 15w50 is what was reccomended but seeing as i live in new england i was thinking that might be a little heavy? also which brand should i get?

There is a little plate on either the back side or underside, you can just pop that off and see in. There will be this little wire clip that holds the bulb in.

      what rede30 said.

My plate was on the underside, and after you remove that the rest will become clear.

.......and dont use synthetic oil, unless you want it to leak. 15W-40 is a good viscocity.

Synthetic has a very low surface tension, so it tends to creep under seals and gaskets far more than standard petroleum oils.

Our seals weren't designed for it (which is no biggie), plus most of us have 150,000+ miles on 20 year old motors (that is a biggie). If you don't, well, goper it!

Also, when changing the foglight bulbs (or any other halogen bulb) be very careful to not touch the glass of the new bulb. Your fingers will leave oil on the glass, causing a hot spot and premature bulb failure.
