Rear Defroster Wiring - Need input

One of the PO's has cut the speaker wires and the defroster wires in my '84 eta. My question is, where do the defroster wires go? I see one connector on the lower driver side section of the window. Where does the other wire go?

I think the ground is on the passenger side - the wire on the drivers' side is the power wire (I think). I've seen setups before where the defroster grounds out on the C pillar too (again, passenger side), so look around there I guess.

Thanks! I found the connector on driver side of the window. Did not see a connector on passenger side (hope it didn't break off). One of the PO's did a severe hack job on this car in many places.

Not sure if that's a bad thing or not - checked my car after I made my post, I've got a tab on the passenger side too. Granted, my car is three years newer, but I don't know if that would really change the setup.

Worst case scenario, if you're kick ass at soldering, you could solder a wire to where the clip would've attached to or something. I imagine the bitch level will be at max for a project like that.

I just replace the entire front air spring/shock/control arm setup on my wife's Allroad... and rebuilt the air pump for that system too... in a one car detached brick garage... in the coldest winter I can possibly remember. This will be cake, like Trina drifting around a big a$$ rock into a house cake.

          Thanks again.

That's not on the bitch level scale, clearly you're a masochist ;)

By bitch I guess I meant you'll have to work in the cramped spot between the glass, speaker deck and C pillar, all while trying to make solder run 'uphill', with the whole solder part being the bitchiest. Never had to make a soldering repair like that, nor do I want to.

You should take some pics of the repair, should be interesting to see.

Haha, yeah, that Audi is terrible to work on.

Yeah, I understood what you meant and chose to deflect because I don't like soldering. We'll see if my 15 year old $10 Radio Shack iron is up to it.

So apparently there's a dielectric glue/epoxy out there that some auto parts stores carry specifically for defroster repairs. Not sure if it's shit or not, but I guess good to keep in mind if the whole soldering uphill thing doesn't work out.

Sure man, happy to help. I did a bunch of research on that whole issue, figured it would help others.
