    Aye aye aye

Alright, for those who haven't read my previous threads, I had a working, driving lovely e30 s50 swap. One day, crank no start, no fuel. Dme had water ingress. Replaced dme with a new red label 413 stock chip, I now have fuel, pulled rail, when engine is cranking, injectors are firing but still no start. I am so fed up with this car I am blanking out and don't know what to check. It seems obvious it's a no spark condition but I didn't have my spark plug socket on me. Wtf can I check an how can I check for spark? Thanks

Where exactly in NY are you? Im much more familiar with m20s but could possibly offer some help if your local.

You can check for spark by just removing a coil and shoving an extention in the end then placing it near metal while someone cranks the car, make sure your wearing some gloves or you have it resting near a piece of metal so you can see it arch, not fun getting zapped with coils tho its happened to me more times then i can count.

I'm in Warwick ny, about 1:15 north of the city. I'm very familiar with Brooklyn (if that's where u live from your sig) and I doubt you would wanna make that drive haha. Lemme know, I'd like to get this piece running again cuz it's ridiculously fast and fun

note the color of the spark, bright white/slight bluish tint is good, orange not so much.

could be a number of things, low voltage in the system, bad coil, wires etc...

No spark, removed coil an plug, grounded plug and cranked-no spark. Plugs appear to be ok, but wet from fuel. I removed coil plug and cranked, I had battery voltage present. I ohmed the coil and approx .8 ohms. Do I she'll out $100 bones on a hunch it could be spark plugs??? Why the f would spark plugs be my culprit at this point?

Spark plugs are a few bucks a piece and likely not your issue. Seems like it's cutting spark for some reason. Was this car running at one point?

Yeah sadly bit of a drive for me

Clean all connections and grounds, it's surprising what a bad ground can do

Yes the car was running like a bat outta hell before I stored it and water got into the DME. I went to start it one day and it cranked but didn't start. No fuel/etc...found the DME frozen with ice. I replaced the DME, now I have fuel pressure and injection, but no spark. The car has the ews box, key, ring transmitter under the dash, but I have a red lable 413 DME which means I shouldn't have to worry about the ews. Now can I measure at the coil (back probing) to ensure I have proper voltage going there? I removed the connector and stuck the DVOM probes in and key on, I saw battery voltage, when cranking I watched the voltage drop a bit as the started kicked on. BTW I removed coils 1 and 2 to ground them with the plug in to see if there was spark, and no spark

Did you check all your fuses? Could have popped one when dme fried

Yeah, I went through them all again, the fusible links, etc...I have questions about the c101 connector. Could the cap have gotten fried or something causing the car not to start? Its just a very wild idea? Or does it not even matter if the cap is good or not?

You can pulll the rubber boots off the c101 and see if there are any fried wires. Did you check the fusable link in the trunk on the smaller cable coming from the battery? Just want to double check all options here. Knowing the car was running before the DME fried kind of help eliminate some possible causes, but also adds a few more that could have been caused by the dme frying.

I did not check anything in the trunk...the battery has been relocated to the engine compartment behind passenger strut tower....
