    Serious water condensing in projectors

Has anyone come across water condensing really bad in both the xenon projector and on the inside lens? I have it bad on my E90 and they are saying I should just replace the whole light, but its $1200 plus labor (remove bumper cover) $337. Im wondering if there is a way I can dry up the old water and if there are any spots it commonly leaks in. I replaced my halo bulb this past fall and remember the cover for that had one screw in it, but I can't remember if the cover had orings with it.

    Thanks

I'm sure you could get the water out of the lens and projector and be fine, but I've got no idea how you would do it without removing the assembly from the car. Got access to compressed air? Might be able to blow it out or something.

Also, yes, the issue sounds like a seal is bad or something. Look up whether there's an o-ring or not on an e90 forum or something.

No problem. I know a few guys here are general BMW techs so maybe they have come across it.

I may just end up putting in a used light (still 500 - 700 dollars) while I have the bumper cover off getting resprayed. Spring can't come any sooner!

On previous cars (Ford/Hondas), the method I have used when it's plastic headlights, is drilling 3 small holes at the bottom part of the light, so it is not visible. Thi allows air into the area that is affected and releases water pockets if any.

Makes all of the condensation go away and never comes back.

        Good luck.

New seals? Or a vent as mentioned much like an E36 styled one.

I asked them about seals and it seems there are no serviceable seals on these lights.

There just needs to be a damn warm day so I can take stuff apart and look and see if there is something I can do.

+1 on drilling a few holes in the bottom of the lens housing. Also, for the projector housing, you can try using some RTV to seal it. Some might call that ghetto, but it'll work fine and noone will ever know unless they go to change out your bulb. What's there to lose?

Ill try adding a vent hole. But to keep the overall quality of the car, if the water doesn't vent out with warmer weather, Ill replace it rather than repair it.

                    Thanks for the suggestions.
